KIMA Member Hospitals Named Among Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027

Member hospitals of the Korea International Medical Association (KIMA) have once again demonstrated the excellence and global competitiveness of Korean healthcare in Newsweek’s World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027, published in collaboration with global data intelligence firm Statista.

Released in September 2026, the rankings evaluated hospitals across 13 medical specialties: Cardiology, Oncology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Urology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Cardiac Surgery, and Nephrology.

The evaluation was based on three criteria: an online survey of healthcare professionals worldwide (83.5%), international accreditation of medical institutions (10%), and the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) (6.5%).

KIMA member hospitals achieved outstanding results across a wide range of specialties, with several institutions ranking among the world’s best.

Asan Medical Center ranked in the global Top 10 in six specialties. It placed 2nd worldwide in Endocrinology, as well as 5th in Gastroenterology, 5th in Urology, 6th in Oncology, and 9th in both Neurology and Nephrology.

Samsung Medical Center ranked 5th worldwide in Oncology, 9th in Urology, and 12th in Pulmonology, demonstrating its strength across major specialized fields of care.

Seoul National University Hospital ranked 3rd worldwide in Urology, while Seoul National University Children’s Hospital placed 8th worldwide in Pediatrics, highlighting its internationally recognized expertise in specialized medical care.

Severance Hospital ranked 6th worldwide in Orthopedics and 10th in Endocrinology, securing leading positions across multiple specialties.

Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital also demonstrated strong performance, ranking 13th worldwide in Endocrinology, 18th in Gastroenterology, and 21st in Urology.

In addition, several other KIMA member hospitals — Korea University Anam Hospital, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Hanyang University Hospital, National Cancer Center, Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, and Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital — were also included in the World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027 rankings across various specialties.

Notably, in Urology, Seoul National University Hospital (3rd), Asan Medical Center (5th), and Samsung Medical Center (9th) all ranked among the global Top 10. In Endocrinology, Asan Medical Center (2nd), Seoul National University Hospital (6th), and Severance Hospital (10th) also secured positions in the global Top 10.

These achievements demonstrate the internationally recognized clinical expertise and specialized capabilities of KIMA member hospitals across a broad range of medical fields, including endocrinology, urology, oncology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, and pediatrics.
