Samsung
Medical Center (SMC) has been included in Newsweek’s “World’s Best Hospitals
2026”, announced online on February 25. SMC ranked 26th globally, moving up
four places from the previous year, and was the highest-ranked hospital in
Korea in this year’s evaluation.
The
World’s Best Hospitals rankings are conducted by Newsweek in collaboration with
Statista Inc., a global market research firm based in Germany.
The
rankings are determined based on four key criteria:
l Medical performance indicators (40%)
l Recommendations from medical experts both domestically and internationally
(35%)
l Patient satisfaction (18.5%)
l Implementation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) (6.5%)
Samsung
Medical Center has also been recognized in Newsweek’s Best Specialized
Hospitals rankings. In the cancer category, the hospital was ranked third
globally for two consecutive years and first among general hospitals in that
evaluation.
In
addition, it has maintained the No. 1 position in Korea in the Smart Hospital
category for five consecutive years.
Since
its opening in 1994, Samsung Medical Center has continued to pursue
patient-centered care, the treatment of complex and severe diseases, and the
development of advanced intelligent hospital systems. The hospital noted that
the results reflect its continued efforts toward innovation in healthcare
across multiple areas.
