Hyundae Hospital Highlights 20 Years of Medical Cooperation in Mongolia

Training provided to 105 Mongolian healthcare professionals, highlighting a model for Korea-Mongolia healthcare cooperation

Hyundae Hospital, an education-affiliated hospital of Chung-Ang University Medical Center, participated in healthcare events held in Mongolia on the occasion of President Lee Jae Myung’s visit to the country, sharing the achievements of more than 20 years of healthcare cooperation between Korea and Mongolia and discussing ways to expand international medical collaboration.

On July 9, Hyundae Hospital attended a meeting for participants of Korea-Mongolia training projects in Ulaanbaatar, hosted by Minister of Health and Welfare Chung Eun-kyung. Forty Mongolian healthcare professionals who had received training in Korea participated in the meeting, including six who had trained at Hyundae Hospital.

Participants shared how the medical skills and hospital management experience they acquired in Korea are being applied in healthcare settings in Mongolia.

Since 2012, Hyundae Hospital has supported training programs for a total of 105 Mongolian healthcare professionals, contributing to healthcare cooperation between the two countries.

On July 10, Minister Chung, along with officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, visited Hyundae Hospital in Mongolia to review the hospital’s overseas operations as well as healthcare cooperation projects involving Korea, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan.

The delegation reviewed achievements in healthcare professional training, medical technology exchange, and overseas hospital operations. They also examined the telemedicine consultation system connecting healthcare professionals in Korea and Mongolia.

Minister Chung expressed appreciation for Hyundae Hospital’s continued efforts in medical volunteer services and healthcare professional training, emphasizing the importance of private-sector-led international healthcare cooperation in strengthening the competitiveness of Korean healthcare.

During a separate meeting with Korean healthcare institutions and companies operating in Mongolia, participants discussed issues including improvements to medical tourism visa procedures, easing regulations related to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and expanding support for healthcare institutions operating overseas. Minister Chung said the government would seek measures to provide practical support.

Kim Boo-sup, Director of Hyundae Hospital, said the hospital has been building a sustainable model of international healthcare cooperation by linking medical volunteer services, healthcare professional training, and overseas hospital operations.

He added that Hyundae Hospital will continue to expand cooperation with Mongolia and other Central Asian countries and contribute to promoting the competitiveness of Korean healthcare internationally.
