Chung-Ang University Health Care System Hyundae Hospital Marks 9th Year of Medical Volunteering in Kazakhstan, Treating 1,488 Patients

A total of 79 volunteers participated in the mission, including medical professionals from orthopedics, surgery, cardiology, emergency medicine, and other specialties. The team provided outpatient care to 1,468 local residents and performed surgeries on 20 patients.

The volunteer team also carried out community outreach activities, including providing scholarships for descendants of ethnic Koreans and visiting a local orphanage. At the Friendship Park in Ushtobe, the team reflected on the history of the forced migration of ethnic Koreans and the legacy of Korean independence activists.

“For the past nine years, we have been able to continue our medical volunteer work in Kazakhstan thanks to the trust and exchanges we have built with local communities,” said Kim Bu-seop, Director of Chung-Ang University Health Care System Chung-Ang University Health Care System Hyundae Hospital. “This mission was especially meaningful because we were able not only to provide medical assistance, but also to deepen our understanding of the history of ethnic Koreans and the local community, while sharing warmth and support with children and future generations.”

He added, “Building on our long-standing relationship with Kazakhstan, Chung-Ang University Health Care System Hyundae Hospital will continue its medical volunteer activities and exchanges, and strive to contribute to friendship between the two countries and the advancement of healthcare.”

Meanwhile, Chung-Ang University Health Care System Hyundae Hospital is also expanding healthcare cooperation in Kazakhstan. Together with its local partner, Shinline Group, the hospital is pursuing the establishment of a 200-bed general hospital in Kazakhstan.
