Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital is strengthening global cooperation to expand K-medical throughout the Middle East region.
The hospital announced on the 7th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 28 with the Oman Armed Forces Hospital (MCMSS) to enhance medical collaboration.
Through this partnership, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital aims to establish a sustainable international cooperation system across clinical care, research, and education, while promoting patient-centered K-medical globally. Based on more than a year of mutual exchange and trust since 2024, the two institutions plan to expand collaboration to include:
Establishment of a patient referral system
Operation of medical staff training and education programs
Joint research and academic cooperation
With the signing of this MOU, patients supported by the Omani government will now be able to receive treatment at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital. Additionally, through medical staff training visits, the hospital will transfer advanced medical technologies and clinical expertise—including robotic surgery—to Oman. Collaboration will focus on complex and high-risk areas such as hematologic cancers, solid tumors, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, enabling Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital to extend the core DNA of K-medical into the Middle East.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both institutions, including Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital President Lee Ji-yeol, Vice President for External Affairs Yang Dong-won, Oman Armed Forces Hospital Director Saleh Al Abri, Oman’s Ambassador to Korea Zakariya Al Saadi, and Deputy Ambassador Lim Al Siyabi.
President Lee stated,
“Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital is leading Asia in advanced medical technologies such as robotic surgery, drawing patients and medical professionals from around the world, including the Middle East. Through this agreement, we hope to build various forms of medical cooperation grounded in mutual trust.”
Director Saleh Al Abri of the Oman Armed Forces Hospital said,
“We expect that Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital’s advanced medical systems and technologies will significantly enhance the clinical and educational capabilities of our hospital. We hope this agreement will further invigorate medical exchanges between Oman and the Republic of Korea.”
Since President Lee presented his vision of “LINK—Leadership and Innovation for the Next era of K-Medical” upon taking office, the hospital plans to continue expanding international cooperation in the coming years.
