The “Excellent Medical Tourism Institution” designation, established under the Act on Support for Overseas Expansion of Medical Institutions and Attraction of Foreign Patients, is awarded by the Ministry of Justice—the government authority overseeing immigration affairs—following an evaluation of medical institutions’ performance in attracting and treating foreign patients, as well as their visa approval rates.
As a result of this designation, Bucheon Sejong Hospital and Incheon Sejong Hospital have been granted the authority to invite foreign nationals by applying for electronic visas (e-visas) through the Korea Visa Portal.
Foreign patients using these hospitals can now skip submitting financial proof documents when applying for e-visas, and the range of accompanying caregivers and family members has been expanded to include collateral relatives up to the fourth degree, providing greater convenience during immigration procedures.
Sejong Hospital, which operates the nation’s only heart-specialized hospital, has achieved the “Triple Crown” of medical certifications—including accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), the domestic hospital accreditation for acute care facilities, and the Korea Accreditation Program for Hospitals Serving Foreign Patients (KAHF).
Chairman Park Jin-sik stated,“With this designation as an Excellent Medical Tourism Institution, the convenience for foreign patients visiting Sejong Hospital has been greatly improved. We will continue to provide customized and world-class medical services for both domestic and international patients.”
