Prostate cancer among men has the highest prevalence and cancer mortality is the second-highest worldwide. In Korea, the incidence of Westernized eating is increasing gradually, and it is currently the fourth most common cancer. In June 2001, Professor Taekon Hwang, Department of Urology at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital first performed the prostate cancer laparoscopic surgery in Korea, and in February 2006 recorded the first 100 cases of prostate cancer laparoscopic surgery in Korea. In 2011, the achieved 400 cases of prostate cancer laparoscopic surgeries in five years, but the number of prostate cancer laparoscopic surgery was reduced due to the universalization of robotic surgery introduced with the opening of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital in 2009.However, it has provided a wide range of options for surgery by performing laparoscopic surgery on patients who are unable to pay for the expensive surgery. In May 2019, Korea recorded 1,000 cases of laparoscopic nephrectomy for the first time in 18 years. Unlike traditional surgery, which involves opening a large incision in the abdomen, laparoscopic surgery in a 0.5cm- 1cm hole in the abdomen to insert a camera and laparoscopic surgical instruments, resulting in a short recovery period of time compared to traditional surgery, which is good for daily life and beauty. However, laparoscopic surgery for prostate cancer is the most technically difficult of laparoscopic surgery in the urological system, so only a small number of hospitals, including Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, are performing prostate cancer laparoscopic surgery in Korea. https://www.cmcseoul.or.kr/page/board/news/462595?p=1&s=10&q=%7B%22all%22%3A%22%EC%A0%84%EB%A6%BD%EC%84%A0%22%7D +82-43-713-8999, 8998, 8997 kimakorea@khidi.or.kr
