Cheju Halla General Hospital was designated as a genetic panel testing organization based on Next Generation Sequencing(NGS) by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Gene panel testing based on Next Generation Sequencing is a medical technology that analyzes dozens and hundreds of genes in one panel, diagnosing exact genetic variability and enabling patient-specific precision treatments for patients suffering from cancer or rare diseases. As a result, Next Generation Sequencing technology is leading to the identification of the cause of diseases and the development of personalized medicine in the field of medical life and will contribute greatly to the development of biotechnology and medicine in the future. This technology is currently being used most actively in cancer research and treatment. Genetic panel tests based on Next Generation Sequencing have enabled the detection of mutational genes in cancer patients, allowing them to prescribe customized anticancer drugs.
