1 billion dollar Russian Patients are coming KIMA logo According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of Russian patients was 31,829 in 2014 and this number accounted for 11.9 percent of the whole foreign patients. The patients spent 111.1billion won as treatment spending in Korea, which is the second largest number after China (140.3bn won). The main reason these patients are multiplying is because they have backward medical environment. Furthermore, at the macro level, western economic sanction and the collapsed nation’s currency obstruct the medical tourism in Europe such as Germany and Finland. Instead, they have chosen Korea as a medical destination due to affordable price with advanced healthcare services. For attracting Russian Patients, Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong provides Russian broadcast, novel, local dishes and translator. In addition, Ewha Womans University Medical Center organised a delegation to embark on local promotion in Vladivostok in May last year. Last December, 12 domestic medical institutions participated '2015 Russia Health Care Week' to introduce medical infrastructure and a tourism resource in South Korea. +82-43-713-8999, 8998, 8997 kimakorea@khidi.or.kr
