The very first project for Cote d'Ivoire was begun in 2014 when Professor Jin-Young Song performed a cardiac catheterization at the Institute Cardiologie d'Abidjan (ICA). Last month, Professor Song's team visited Cote d'Ivoire again and did a few more extra medical service including education & training programs for medical staff. 13 local patients who suffered from congenital heart diseases went under heart surgeries and ended up being successful. What made this visit more special was that it was the very first atrial septal defect surgery for Samsung Medical Center in Cote d'Ivoire. Also, a few local surgeons joined the heart operation with the Korean surgeons. Professor Song said that 'our team will focus on two aims for cote d'Ivoire's healthcare; 'surgical treatment' and 'education for Ivoiran medical staff'.
