14-member team provides medical care to 1,168 people across five regions
Reaffirms 10-year partnership with Mongolia’s National Center for Maternal and Child Health
Ewha Womans University Medical Center (EUMC) has successfully completed its 13th overseas medical volunteer mission in Mongolia.
EUMC announced on August 13 that a 14-member medical volunteer team, consisting of professors, nurses, and administrative staff, carried out a seven-day medical mission from July 27 to August 2 in five locations across Darkhan-Uul Province and Ulaanbaatar.
The team visited Darkhan, Sharyngol, Orkhon, Khongor, and Bayangol District in Ulaanbaatar, providing medical care to a total of 1,168 local residents.
EUMC has continued its medical volunteer activities in Mongolia every year from 2011 through 2026, with the exception of 2020 to 2022, when overseas missions were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years, the medical center has provided care to approximately 15,000 people in Mongolia.
During this year’s mission, the team also visited Mongolia’s National Center for Maternal and Child Health, with which EUMC established a cooperative relationship through a telemedicine project in 2016. The team provided medical services at the center and engaged with local healthcare professionals, reaffirming the partnership that has continued for the past decade.
Kang Kyung-ho, Head of EUMC’s International Healthcare Business Division, said that he felt deeply proud that the medical center had been able to continue meaningful activities in Mongolia for the past 15 years, adding that the latest medical volunteer mission once again highlighted the spirit of solidarity and humanitarianism.
