On February 2026 (local time), U.S. current affairs weekly Newsweek released its World’s Best Hospitals 2026 rankings, where the Korea International Medical Association (KIMA) demonstrated its overwhelming leadership. Notably, all of the Top 5 hospitals in South Korea are KIMA member institutions, and a total of 14 member hospitals were named among the best in the nation.
The rankings, conducted in collaboration with Statista, are based on a rigorous evaluation of medical expert surveys, hospital accreditation data, and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
In the global arena, Korea’s medical excellence was further solidified as 8 KIMA member hospitals earned spots in the prestigious Global Top 250. This includes Samsung Medical Center (26th) and Asan Medical Center (28th), both of which maintained their positions as world-class medical hubs.
The 14 KIMA member hospitals included in the 2026 rankings are:
Global Top 250 (8 Institutions): Samsung Medical Center, Asan Medical Center, Severance Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, SNU-Bundang Hospital, Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital, Korea University-Anam Hospital, and Ewha Womans University-Seoul Hospital.
National Rankings (6 Additional Institutions): Hanyang University Seoul Hospital, Ewha Womans University-Mokdong Hospital, Daejeon Sun Medical Center, Cheju Halla General Hospital, Incheon Sejong Hospital, and the National Cancer Center (Special Oncology).
A KIMA representative stated, “Securing all top five spots in the national rankings and placing eight members in the global top 250 is a testament to the world-leading expertise of our association. KIMA will continue to spearhead the global promotion of Korean healthcare's unparalleled standards.”
