May 3,2023

삼성서울병원은 4월 20일 미국 시카고에서 열린 HIMSS에서 INFRAM, DIAM, EMRAM 분야 최고 등급을 획득해 세계 첫 '트리플 크라운'을 달성했다.

Samsung Medical Center won the triple crown for the first time in the medical information management evaluation hosted by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).

On April 20, Samsung Medical Center acquired the world's first level seven, the highest grade, in the digital medical imaging field (digital imaging adoption model: DIAM) at 'HIMSS 2023' held in Chicago, USA, and also acquired level seven in the medical record field (electronic medical record adoption model: EMRAM).

On this day, at the HIMSS 2023 site, as Samsung Medical Center's experience in acquiring the level seven certification was introduced, participating hospital officials from all over the world came forward to convey their intentions for benchmarking.

HIMSS is recognized as one of the world's most reputable certification bodies that evaluates the level of informatization of medical institutions with the goal of improving the quality of medical care and the safety of patients.

DIAM, for which Samsung Medical Center obtained the highest level for the first time, evaluates the maturity of digital transformation in medical imaging. The level of demand is so high that no other medical institution has obtained the highest grade of level seven.

Through various medical imaging solutions such as digital pathology solutions, inspection data management solutions, and mobile viewers, Samsung Medical Center received a good rating in the evaluation categories, which included ▲precision treatment, ▲image acquisition and sharing, ▲image interpretation, ▲image inquiry, ▲quality management, ▲workflow management, ▲patient safety, and ▲clinical decision support.

EMRAM evaluates how successfully electronic medical records are managed. After acquiring level six last year, they reached the highest level after one year.

This follows the acquisition of INFRAM level seven in the IT infrastructure field last year.

Samsung Medical Center is also the first hospital to achieve the 'triple crown' by obtaining the highest grade in three areas out of the seven fields hosted by HIMSS.

Acquiring the highest level in HIMSS is also significant nationally as it proves that Korea's medical IT is leading the world.

The reason that Samsung Medical Center has been recognized as a high-tech intelligent hospital representing not only Korea but also the world is thanks to Korea's advanced IT infrastructure and the entire hospital's speed of digital transformation.

In the 'Digital Health Indicator (DHI)' survey conducted by HIMSS earlier this year, it scored 365 points out of 400, the highest score in the world.

The Digital Health Indicator survey asks questions about the degree of digital transformation of hospitals in four areas including ▲governance and personnel, ▲interoperability, ▲personalized medical support, and ▲predictive analysis.

Samsung Medical Center achieved a digital conversion score of close to 100% in all areas. It achieved 99% in each of the three areas of interoperability, predictive analysis, governance and personnel, and 98% in personalized medical support.

It is objectively recognized as speeding up digital transformation ahead of the era of the 4th industrial revolution and has secured a large gap.

Park Seung Woo, director of Samsung Medical Center, said, “It is a great honor to represent Korea and prove that Korea has world-class IT capabilities.” He added, “With the achievement of this triple crown as an opportunity, we will make further efforts so that the world can follow the path that Samsung Medical Center is walking as a standard in order to realize the image of future medical care as a 'high-tech intelligent hospital'.”
