Coronary Angiography Room at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital Records 20,000 Procedures with 100% Success Rate  The Coronary Angiography Room at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital recently recorded a total of 20,000 exams and procedures.  The Coronary Angiography Room performs heart-related procedures such as coronary angiography and stent insertions for diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, in addition to transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), the latest treatment for aortic valve stenosis. Coronary angiography is an examination performed by inserting a catheter into the radial or femoral artery after administering local anesthesia in the wrist or groin. If there is a stenosis that needs treatment, coronary intervention (balloon dilatation and stenting) may be performed during the examination. TAVI is a highly difficult procedure for aortic valve stenosis that involves inserting a valve through the femoral artery. Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital has recorded a 100% success rate since being certified as a TAVI implementation institution in 2020. The Coronary Angiography Room at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital was re-opened on the third floor of the main building last year following an expansion. With state-of-the-art angiography equipment, it offers one-stop medical services from diagnosis to treatment. There are members of the specialized medical team comprised of cardiologists and thoracic surgeons among others on duty 24/7 to prepare for emergencies, and immediate surgery is possible if it is deemed urgent.  Dr. Park Jun-beom, Director of the Arrhythmia Center and Head of the Cardiology Department at Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital, said, “The number of exams and procedures has been steadily increasing from before the re-opening [of the Coronary Angiography Room], and all medical staff are providing prompt and stable medical services based on their experience of conducting more than 20,000 exams and procedures.”  +82-43-713-8997~9 kimakorea@khidi.or.kr
