Gachon University Gil Medical Center was selected as the first-grade institution in evaluation of the use of prophylactic antibiotics in surgery recently announced by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.The administration of surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis reduces the risk of surgical site infections. The usage of antibiotics that do not follow the proper dose may not be effective in preventing infection and may cause increased antibiotic resistance.
Gachon University Gil Medical Center had a first class degree, which is more than 90 points. In addition, it was selected as an excellent institution with 97 points or more, and obtained incentives. The Hospital got a perfect score on the 13 areas of 15 operations.
'By achieving a near-perfect score on the adequacy evaluation of antibiotics, Gil Medical Center was able to receive an objective evaluation as a hospital that is well operated and well protected from infection', President Lee Geun said.
