Currently, Sejong General Hospital has operated 1,000 cardiac surgeries per year and 4,400 cases of coronary angiography, and has treated 300,000 heart patients per year. In the meantime, the hospital has performed the surgery for free and has given new life to 13,000 people by the end of July this year. More than 1,400 foreign children with congenital heart diseases have received new life through free surgeries.
These glorious figures are well received at home and abroad. In 1989, Sejong Hospital was designated as the first hospital specializing in cardiovascular disorders by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Korea. In November 2011, it was certified by the US International Medical Assessment Board (JCI) and successfully re-certified in 2014. In addition, it is considered to be the safest and best treatment (grade 1) in the evaluation of successful rate of various cardiac surgery, including acute myocardial infarction and coronary artery bypass graft.
